Hail, Darkness, my ancient comrade true,
Thou dost draw nigh in moments silent, deep.
But wherefore dost thou cling as if on cue?
A paradox, companion, thoughts doth creep.
Are friends but pawns, as Stalin once did claim?
Yet thou dost linger, cloak of deepest night.
Whilst “Hail, Light” remains unspoken, tame,
Thine absence casts a shadow, stark and white.
Yet in the abyss, a faint gleam doth dance,
A guide through tunnels endless, dark, and drear.
What journey leads where darkness holds its trance?
A path obscured by falsehoods, doubt, and fear.
But there doth shine a light, steadfast and pure,
Beyond mere flames and life’s ephemeral lure.
